Special Education / Inclusive School

Inclusive School Philosophy

"Every child deserves the opportunity to have a quality education"

New Special Education Program

Golden Oak Private School in Limassol is proud  to announce a groundbreaking new special education program, the first of its kind in Cyprus. As an inclusive school, it offers a leading program for special education that is unique to Limassol education.

The school is founded on the principle of true inclusivity, creating a supportive environment where students with special needs are integrated into mainstream classes with their neurotypical peers. Our unique and inclusive approach is designed to meet the diverse needs of all students, providing specialized support for children with special educational needs within a mainstream setting and remedial instruction where necessary.

We believe in creating an environment where every child with special needs can thrive academically and socially. This program redefines inclusive education in Limassol by focusing on individualized learning plans and a truly inclusive philosophy, ensuring every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We believe in differentiated instruction and personalized learning plans, with a dedicated inhouse Special Education team available to provide individualized support. This approach, which includes collaboration with parents and specialists, ensures that every child, regardless of their developmental level, receives a quality education and the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially.

Our inclusive school policy is to support students with additional learning needs alongside their peer group in their mainstream classroom setting as much as possible. The close nurturing environment at our school means that all students have the care and support that they need to be effective and happy learners and that good communication between home and school is always maintained. Students with particular needs should be able to be working their way through an individualised teaching program to help them build up confidence and skills in the areas that they need to then fully access the core curriculum alongside their peers.

Special Education Team

  • School Psychologist
  • Special Education Teacher
  • Occupational Therapist

Our inhouse special education team works closely with RESILIENT LIVES, the key center for social and emotional health in Cyprus, to ensure that all special educational needs are met to the highest standard.

Our team of professionals follow evidence-based instructional practices, such as differentiated instruction and multisensory teaching.

We are committed to fostering a community where differences are celebrated and all students are empowered to reach their full potential.

Working with our Special Education Team

  • Step 1: Create a personalized learning plan for each child along with each child's external therapists. An Individualized Education Program (IEP) outlines the student's current abilities, sets measurable annual goals, and specifies the special education children with special needs will receive. Our school psychologist consistently monitors each student's IEP development throughout the year.

  • Our special education program relies on a collaborative and communicative team both within the school itself and outside the school. Open communication and strong partnerships are vital for monitoring student progress, adjusting the IEP as needed, and ensuring that support is consistent both at school and at home. This is the only way for the best results to be reached.
